We have received a church building that no single generation could afford to acquire or replace. How we care for and preserve our facility entrusted to us will have an impact on those who succeed us. The members of St. James Memorial Episcopal Church are also beneficiaries of past Christians whose vision anticipated the need for ministry and programs to serve the congregation and larger community. These gifts came with few restrictions. They expressed their faith that God would put their gifts to good use. Planned Giving is one expression of the wise use of the personal resources God entrusts to us. Planned Giving gives the donor a means to thoughtfully transfer resources to the next generation, and helps the church to gather the resources necessary for its mission and ministry. What is Gift Planning? Gift planning usually involves financial or estate planning, however, it is not reserved for the wealthy. It is a means by which anyone concerned with the wise use of his or her personal resources makes a considered choice about the ultimate disposition of their estate. Gift planning establishes a way for a donor to provide for family members while remembering the church as well. It often enables the donor to provide more for his or her heirs and to make a larger gift to the church than thought possible. St. James Memorial Episcopal Church Endowment Funds The St. James Memorial Episcopal Church Endowment Fund through PNC Capital Investment The St. James Endowment Fund Oversight Committee (hereafter referred to as “The Oversight Committee”) is kept apprised by the church treasurer of any changes in how the portfolio of the St. James Endowment Fund of St. James Episcopal Church are adopted and amended from time to time. These guidelines are established and reviewed by the Diocesan Council as per the recommendation of PNC Capital Investment. There are copies of the PNC report which give detailed information on the portfolio available at the church office (814-827-3590) or by contacting the Diocesan office at 814-456-4203. St. James Fund Distribution Currently, accepted and reviewed financial gifts shall be allocated and earmarked as Endowment Fund (90%), Capital Fund (7%) and Outreach (3%). This allocation is a guideline only and is subject to periodic adjustments as deemed necessary by the Bishops Committee for the benefit of the congregation of St. James Memorial Episcopal Church. In summary, we hope you will include special giving to St. James Church as part of your financial plan. St. James Endowment and Gift Acceptance Policy
The St. James Endowment Fund Policy is hereby established by a resolution of the Bishop’s Committee on 6 May 2018 to enable the Church to more completely fulfill its mission through the preservation, development and enhancement of the Church properties and its ministries beyond what is possible through annual operating monies.
