Altar Guild
St. James Altar Guild is a group of women and men who are called to serve God by offering their time and talents preparing and tending our Episcopal worship space. It is a ministry of love undertaken in the name of Christ.
Our guild exists to assist the clergy. Our duties include maintaining all vessels, linens, vestments, altar hangings, and supplies necessary for the preparation of worship services. Members care for all artifacts owned by our parish.
"In 1891 a group of girls under the leadership of Miss Edith Cadwallader formed an Altar Society under the Rector's direction, to care for the altar and provide its furnishings. This organization has continued as a tower of strength to the present time." - Mrs. E. L. Drake

Altar Guild Update for 2021
The Altar Guild members faithfully continue to care for our sanctuary and artifacts. We replaced some of our worn linens this past year. The process of getting our altar hangings cleaned has begun and the plan is to have each of them freshened up throughout this year.
The inventory and appraisal of our artifacts is still in progress and the goal is to complete it in 2020. The wish list for refurbishing artifacts has not changed. We hope to make some progress on that, if our finances allow for it.
Our gratitude goes out to Richard Orner for his hard work keeping flowers on the altar and for his creativity in decorating the church for the Christmas season. We are grateful that he has chosen to share his talents in that capacity.
