As millions of people struggle to recover from the devastation caused by Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, Episcopal Relief & Development is working with Episcopal and Anglican partners in the United States and beyond to support relief and recovery in the days and weeks to come. Read more about recovery from Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Fiona. If you are able, please give generously to Episcopal Relief & Development's Hurricane Relief Fund to support the work ahead.
The Building a Compassionate Community series continues this Thursday, Oct. 27th, at St. James Church. Keith Knauff from CareerLink will present on the hurdles for employment.
Soup and salad will be served at 5:30 pm and then an overview of CareerLink will be presented including job search challenges for individuals whether they be older workers, those with disabilities, those wanting to reenter the workforce, students/youth, or veterans. Job seekers may be in need of acquisition of specific skills, improvement of interview skills, translation of military skills and experience to a civilian occupation, and support resources available. The presentation will be opened up for questions and discussion. St. James is located at 112 E. Main Street in Titusville. Come have a delicious bowl of soup and find out more about the employment challenges and opportunities in our area. Dear People of God, As I write this, the world is mourning Queen Elizabeth II. Seventy-five years ago, on her 21st birthday, she said, “I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.” Queen Elizabeth kept this pledge. Her devotion to service was keenly and openly grounded in her faith and the teachings of Christ. So it is for each one of us. The teachings of Christ call us to a life of service. The work we have been given to do is certainly often for our own benefit, but never to the exclusion of it. We are called to work for the common good, to be compassionate, and to extend generosity and hospitality in ways that make a difference to the communities in which we find ourselves. CORE (Cooperative Oil Region Episcopal) Ministries, of which we are a part, along with St. John’s, Franklin, Christ Church, Oil City, and Church of Our Father, Foxburg, is a tremendous opportunity for us to step up our capacity to look beyond ourselves. Even as we look forward to new programs and events coming up at St. James this fall, we might also be thinking about ways to cooperate and collaborate for the greater good of the entire region. Please share your ideas with the Bishop’s Committee. Blessings, Martha |
