As the St. James Soup Kitchen and Food Cupboard enter a new year, all involved express thanksgiving for our many blessings, especially for our volunteers and those who have donated time and treasure to making this outreach possible. Our volunteers from Walmart earn dollars for the Soup Kitchen through the Volunteerism Always Pays program, which totaled $3750 this year. Also, the Soup Kitchen recently received a grant from the Walmart Foundation for $500. This will help defray the cost of the new freezer we needed when our old one quit working. Many individuals and service groups in Titusville have contributed substantially to St. James' food ministry. Giant Eagle has donated approx. 17,000 lbs. of food which has enabled weekly baked goods distribution and provided meat for the twice a month food bags. Last year over 50 people from the community participated. There is a standard $10 fee per workshop for participants and all funds raised will go to outreach in the Titusville area. This year’s funds have been designated to be given to the Titusville YWCA in recognition of their 100th year anniversary. The YWCA provides oversight for the St. James House. An additional materials fee may be charged for a few workshops. The workshops are open to everyone in the community. The deadline for pre-registration is Friday, February 3rd.
