<![CDATA[St. James Church to Support Beginning of New Life Group for Women called Journey]]>Tue, 25 Apr 2023 11:39:30 GMThttp://stjamestitusville.org/church-news/st-james-church-to-support-beginning-of-new-life-group-for-women-called-journeyJourney is a group of women who share life together through journaling and faith. We will explore different types of journaling by writing and using art to create our journals. By journeying together, we enrich the experience for all of us.

This is an intergenerational group of women ages 12 and up. We explore our inner journey of faith using various guides that help us deepen our journey with the Creator, ourselves, each other, and the community in which we live.

Journey is a Life Group that contains three elements that focus on UP, IN, and OUT. UP our relationship with the Creator; IN attending to our inner life; OUT helping our community.

The group will choose how often, when, and where we would like to meet. There will be a Monday night meeting at St. James Memorial Episcopal Church at 7:00 pm on May 8th, or in the large gray and white barn at 706 Rockwood Drive, Titusville, PA at 10:00 am on Saturday May 13th. Bring your questions and come together with others who are interested in exploring this journey.

If you are unable to attend a meeting and have questions, please feel free to give Michel Harris a call at 425.530.1864 or send an email to harmic1958@gmail.com.]]>
<![CDATA[GODSPEED AND FAREWELL]]>Mon, 09 Jan 2023 15:52:38 GMThttp://stjamestitusville.org/church-news/godspeed-and-farewell
To The Reverend Canon Martha Ishman

Reader: Martha in September of 2011, you were called to ministry as the Vicar of St. James Memorial Episcopal Church. You were called to proclaim God’s love in word and action, to challenge us live faithfully and to be among us as priest and pastor, colleague and friend. Sharing our joys and our sorrows, you have been important to our life together and in our service to this community.

We gather today to offer our thanks and prayers for your ministry in this place and in Titusville. We are not just saying good-bye — though you are officially retiring this is also a time of sending you forth into the new ministry God will call you to on behalf of Jesus Christ. You have been faithful in proclaiming the good news of God’s love in Christ. As you leave, we thank God for your preaching ministry.
Congregation: Thanks be to God!

Reader: You have faithfully celebrated the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist. As you leave, we thank you for feeding us with the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, Our Savior.
Congregation: Thanks be to God!

Reader: You have walked with us through the valley of the shadow of death and encouraged the community with the comfort of the gospel. As you leave this sanctuary, we thank you for being with us in our times of loss.
Congregation: Thanks be to God!

Reader: You have kept the joy of God before us and have been present to rejoice with those who rejoice. Thank you for sharing in our times of great joy.
Congregation: Thanks be to God!

Reader: You have been in our midst more than ten years. You have been part of this church family, sharing your gifts for the sake of Christ’s mission in our community. Thank you for your prayers, your diligent preparation and your careful listening.
Congregation: Thanks be to God!

Reader: It is indeed possible we will see you again, but you will no longer be the Vicar of St. James. We ask you to help us to honor that boundary even as you will continue to be a sister in Christ’s family and we will cherish that relationship. Thank you for journeying with us these years.
Congregation: Thanks be to God!

Reader: Martha Ishman, you have served this parish through transitions and through COVID. With God, we say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Reader and Congregation: Gracious God, you have called us in our baptism to be your servants. You have enabled us to respond to your call as a community of believers. Thank you for the partnership in the gospel we have enjoyed with Martha. Now send her forth to rest, recreation and renewal. May she go from here knowing our love and deep gratitude. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reader: When we end our worship, you have often said to us, “Let us go forth into the world, rejoicing in the power of the Spirit.” Today we speak it to you.

Reader and Congregation: Go forth into the world. Rejoice in the power of the Spirit.
Martha: Thanks be to God!]]>
